The money is real. Why has so little changed?
Hundreds of billions of dollars are being spent on AI every year, on a scale that rivals the economies of whole nations. Yet inside most businesses, the daily work looks much as it did three years ago.
The talk
This talk closes that gap. It explains what actually changed in the past eighteen months, where AI already delivers dramatic results and where it does not, and why the advantage between the companies that have started and those that have not grows wider every week.
What you will take away
-
A grounded view of the spend
What history says about building infrastructure ahead of demand, and whether this is a bubble.
-
Where the gains really are
An honest comparison of the same work done with and without AI, from software to financial analysis.
-
What it means for your business
Why custom software is overtaking off-the-shelf, and how to put knowledge work, not tools, at the centre of your AI strategy.
Who it is for
Executives, owners and senior leaders who want a clear picture of where AI stands today, free of both hype and dismissal.
The experience
This is not a conventional presentation. It is driven by hand gestures, builds its own soundscape, and brings the audience into the performance. Expect to leave with something to think about, and something to do on Monday.
About the speaker
Eric Preisz has spent his career where software meets hard problems: as a contractor for Walt Disney Imagineering, NASA and the DOD, on stage with NVIDIA at GDC, and presenting at Microsoft Research. He taught more than 1,200 students CPU and GPU performance at Full Sail University, and co-wrote Video Game Optimization, published by Cengage. He has advised Evergreen School District on computer science for more than ten years, and has run two companies as CEO, in 3D interactive technology and EdTech. Today he is a Private Equity Operating Partner and Technical Director, working inside businesses on exactly the question this talk asks.
